Tourist Destinations in Kashmir

KASHMIR -LADAKH-INDIA

The State of Jammu and Kashmir is known for its geographical and aesthetic beauty. Tours and travel to Kashmir involve a visit to some of the most interesting tourist attractions in India. Some of these are Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Sonamarg, Wullar Lake, Leh, Zanskar, Kargil, Patnitop, Sanasar, Kishtwar and Krimchi. Vaishno Devi The shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi is situated at a height of 5, 300 feet; the site is located inside a cave in the Trikuta Mountains in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, 62 kilometers from Jammu and 14 kilometers from Katra. Once at the entrance to the cave, the path turns into a narrow tunnel with a cold stream running through it. This stream is called the Charan Ganga. There are rock cut idols of three deities inside the cave, viz. Mahakali, Mahalakshmi and Mahasaraswati. Tourists who travel to this shrine need a pass to enter the shrine and this pass is available at Katra.

Srinagar

DAL LAKE — SRINGAR

Srinagar is located in the western part of the State of Jammu and Kashmir and is famous for its lakes and the charming rows of houseboats floating on them. It is also known for traditional Kashmiri handicrafts and dry fruits. The Mughal Gardens are an important tourist attraction. The best time when tourists can seize an opportunity to travel to Srinagar is from June to early November to enjoy the extended summer and from December to February in winter. Tours to Srinagar involve trips to other interesting tourist attractions as well, some of these are the Hazratbal mosque and the Hari Parbat fort.

Gulmarg

Gulmarg is one of the most frequented hill resorts in the state of Jammu and Kashmir and it lies at a distance of 56 kilometers from Srinagar. Prime tourist attractions in the region include skiing and Heliskiing, green golf courses, the gondola lift, the Gulmarg biosphere reserves and the Alpather Lake.

Pahalgam

The Pahalgam valley is situated at the confluence of the Seshnag Lake and the Lidder River. Pahalgam is associated with the annual Amaranth yatra. The region is extremely popular among tourists for its outdoor activities like fishing, horse riding, golf and trekking. Tours and travel to Pahalgam usually offer opportunities for outdoor activities.
